Flooring FAQ: Ottawa & Gatineau

Answers to the questions Ottawa and Gatineau homeowners ask us most. Don't see yours? Book a free consultation and ask us directly.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes. Every project starts with a free consultation, either in your home or by video call. We look at your space, talk through how you use it, and help you choose the right floor before any work begins.

Which areas do you serve?

We work across Ottawa and Gatineau, including Kanata, Orleans, Nepean, Barrhaven, Gloucester, Stittsville, Manotick, Hull, Rockland and Kemptville.

What types of flooring do you supply and install?

Solid hardwood (white oak, hickory, maple), engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl plank, waterproof vinyl tile, laminate, tile and carpet. We handle both supply and professional installation, so you deal with one team from start to finish.

Which flooring works best with Ottawa's climate?

Ottawa's dry winters and humid summers make wood expand and contract. Engineered hardwood is more stable than solid hardwood through these swings, and luxury vinyl is fully waterproof, which makes it a strong choice for basements, kitchens and mudrooms. We'll recommend the right option for each room during your consultation.

Can you refinish my existing hardwood instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. Sanding and refinishing can remove scratches, wear and old stain, and bring a worn floor back to life for a fraction of the disruption of a full replacement. We'll assess whether your floor has enough wear layer left during the consultation.

Do you install flooring in basements?

Yes. For basements we usually recommend luxury vinyl or waterproof vinyl tile, which handle moisture far better than solid wood or standard laminate.

Do you build or refinish stairs?

Yes. We build new stairs and refinish or re-cap existing ones so they match your new floors.

Do you do more than flooring?

Yes. Our team also handles drywall, painting, kitchens and cabinets, trim work and full home renovations, so one team can carry your project from the first room to the last.

How long does a flooring installation take?

Most single-room installations take one to two days. Larger projects, refinishing and renovations depend on the size of the space and the materials chosen. We give you a clear timeline before we start.
